Kolkata Fire: After AMRI directors, top doctors arrested
AMRI board members Dr Mani Chettri and Dr Pranab Dasgupta were arrested earlier on Friday (today). They were arrested after being questioned at the police headquarters.
Thirteen people have been arrested in the case including four staff members and nine board members.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) had on Jan 3 strongly objected the arrest of the AMRI directors. They had called it 'anti-industry' and not 'completely non-discriminatory'.
While addressing a press conference, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "A business house had requested me not to take any action against them (AMRI directors). But it is not correct. We want industry. But we don't want industry which kills people."
