Mum blast case cracks open rift between Delhi-Mumbai police
The Mumbai attacks saw the death of 27 people and injury to 100 others when bombs exploded in succession in Zaveri Bazaar, near Opera House and close to the Dadar area. The mastermind of the attacks is considered to be Indian Mujahideen founder Yasin Bhatkal who is absconding. Fingers are pointing to the Mumbai ATS since it is being alleged that he was able to escape due to their incompetence.
The other embarrassment comes when those arrested on Monday in the 13/7 Mumbai attack case are actually informers for Central intelligence agencies, according to sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
ATS chief Rakesh maria briefing the media on the arrests and on the case spoke on the role played by Haroon Rashid Naik who was found in Mumbai, and Nadeem Akhtar and Naqi Sheikh who were arrested from Bihar. They stole scooters in which the bombs were planted and also helped in renting out a house for the mastermind Bhatkal. They also did the part of transferring explosives between Delhi and Mumbai.
The two Pakistani nationals, Tabrez and Waqar who also played a part in the attacks slipped because of the lack of coordination between the Delhi and Mumbai police. This matter was revealed by sources within the Home Ministry.
