PM Manmohan Singh hits campaign trail in Uttarakhand today

New Delhi, Jan 20: With all political parties planning and strategising ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is also hitting the campaign trail from Uttarakhand for the Congress.

The PM is expected to address a rally in Rudrapur in Uttarakhand on Friday. In the afternoon, he will speak at a rally at the headquarters of the Udhamsingh Nagar district.

With the Congress doing everything it can to woo voters, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had earlier addressed two rallies in Garhwal region. According to party sources, the PM's rally will see PCC chief Yashpal Arya also in attendance.

Security arrangements have been tightened ahead of his visit.

The BJP and the Congress are fielding their candidates for all of the 70 seats in the state that has close to 64 lakh voters. The voting is scheduled to be held on Jan 30. An earlier statement by the Congress had stated that Manmohan Singh will address two rallies at Rishikesh in Garhwal region.
