Narendra Modi to sit on one-day Sadbhavana fast in Godhra
Sources said that local BJP leaders expect a crowd of over 50,000 at the fast venue. The town's minority people are also likely to attend the event at the State Reserve Police (SRP) Ground in Godhra, in Panchmahal district of Gujarat.
The fast comes nearly after a month before the 10th anniversary Godhra carnage where 59 people, mostly karsevaks, were killed when a coach of Sabarmati Express train was burnt on Feb 27, 2002.
Meanwhile, the main opposition of the state government, Congress party leaders and some NGOs are likely to protest against Modi's day-long fast.
The state police department has deployed over 1,600 policemen along with 50 specially trained Chetak commandos across Godhra town for the smooth running of the event. Moreover, a thee layer security has been put in place at the fast venue.
