Obama treats Michelle to lavish dinner on her birthday

Washington, Jan 18: US first lady Michelle turned 48 in style with her husband President Barack Obama hosting her to a celebratory dinner at a popular steakhouse in downtown Washington, just blocks from the White House.

America's first couple arrived with close friends at BLT Steak, a classy establishment near the presidential mansion, with the secret service out in force to secure the area.
The couple's dinner continues Obamas birthday tradition in recent past which they have celebrated at Washington's finest restaurants.

Birthday girl Michelle was by President's side throughout Monday, with Obama joking about his wife's age.

"When we first married, it was little controversial that she was 20 years younger than me, but now it seems to have worked out ok," the President quipped.

Notably BLT is the brainchild of French chef and entrepreneur Laurent Tourondel and it seems to be favourite of the First Lady as she has been here before.

Though there was no word on what the first couple ordered last night, BLT Steak in fact features "Obama burgers" as part of their burger specials.

Obama burger costs USD 28 for 8 oz Kobe American burger, with cheddar bacon, burnt tomato ketchup and spicy Scallion mustard.

Even as she ages, Michelle has shown that she is growing younger at heart.Last week she launched her own Twitter account and on Monday night she showed off a acting and dancing steps as she appeared on an episode of Nickeldeon's iCarly drawing plaudits from the cast.
