Mayawati in liquor trade? Complaint filed in UP Lokayukta

Lucknow, Jan 5: A complaint has been filed against Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati along with her close aide Naseemuddin Siddiqui in the UP lokyukta for allegedly involving in liquor trade.

According to the complaint, the Chief Minister has been accused of benefitting Rs 2.5 crore from liquor trade. Siddique, however, is being probed in a different case.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister was accused by Avdesh Verma, sacked BSP Minister of being unaware of the problems in the state and her love towards a lavish lifestyle.

Avdesh Verma accused that Mayawati was partying around. He said all this after he broke down in front of the cameras on Monday, Jun 2 expressing his loyalty to the BJP.

Mayawati is on a major image clean-up drive keeping in mind the upcoming UP elections. She has till now has sacked 21 ministers in the last six months.

Rumours are also doing the rounds that the Chief Minister has reportedly hired an agency for her image makeover so as to woo more voters, especially of the upper class. [Read More: Major events, top news of 2011].
