Bhanwari's body burnt in crater, ashes dumped in canal

Rajasthan, Jan 5: In a major breakthrough in the Bhanwari Devi case, the CBI revealed that the missing nurse was strangled to death and her corpse was later burnt in a crater.

Reports reveal that Bhanwari was allegedly strangled to death few hours after she was abducted by a gang on Sept 1.

Sources reveal that her body was burnt near Jaloda village in a deep crater and her ashes were thrown away in a nearby canal.

"She was burnt in this crater and after the body was completely burnt, they collected her remains like ash, etc., and threw it in a nearby canal," sources said.

Bhanwari Devi, who remained untraceable since Sept 1, was allegedly abducted at the behest of sacked Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna. She was kidnapped after a sex CD surfaced that featured Maderna and Bhanwari. [Read More: Major events, top news of 2011].

Meanwhile, her husband, who also confessed to his part in the crime, lost his counsel as he was unable to pay his fees.
