Pune: Police busts sex racket, arrests foreign national

Pune, Jan 4: A 32-year-old woman from Ghana has been arrested by the police for allegedly running a sex racket in Pune.

According to the police, the woman took up prostitution as a way to make quick money to pay for visa tampering case that was filed against her. [Read More: Major events, top news of 2011].

Another woman was arrested along with the woman by the police on Monday, Jan 2. The women have been identified as Shaila Na Dedei Aryi who hails from Ghana and Margaret Daniel Anthony (29), a resident of Vimannagar, Pune, said a report in MiD DAY.

Margaret ran the racket under the guise of a personal masseuse and rented a flat along with Shaila to run their business.

"Tourist visas are easily granted. Besides this, there are no restrictions on the movement of a person travelling on this kind of visa. So we suspect that these factors were responsible for the involvement of four arrested foreign women so far," said Bhanupratap Barge, Senior Police Inspector.
