Dabbawallas eye ticket for MCGM polls from Shiv Sena

A 12-member delegation of the Mumbai Dabbawalla Association (MDA) yesterday met Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and sought representation at the MCGM. "Dabbawallas are not financially sound. We cannot contest the elections. If we get representation at the MCGM or at the state legislative assembly through the Shiv Sena we will be able to put forward our demands," MDA founder Raghunath Medge told PTI.
"The Shiv Sena has been lending its support to the dabbawallas over the years and if they offer a poll ticket to us to contest the civic body elections we would welcome it," he added. The MCGM polls are slated to be held early next year.
