Lokpal Bill: Anna slams Manmohan, Rahul Gandhi

Ralegan Siddhi, Dec 9: Anti-corruption crusader Anna hazare slammed Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi over the draft report of the Lokpal Bill tabled in the parliament. Anna has rejected the draft prepared by the Parliamentary Standing Committee presided by Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Anna claimed that the panel had ignored Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's letter in which he promised Team Anna for a strong Lokpal bill.

Alleging that Rahul had pressured the standing committee on the Lokpal bill, Anna said, "Rahul's suggestion to give constitutional status to Lokpal is a tactic to pass time."

Continuing with his attack, Anna said that it was dangerous for the country to have a weak prime minister as Manmohan Singh.

"There are many prime ministers in the Cabinet and they don't listen to Manmohan Singh. If the Prime Minister wanted, he could have brought a strong Lokpal Act. It's dangerous to have such a weak prime minister," Anna said.

Also slamming other cabinet ministers for creating confusion over the Lokpal bill, he warned, "If a strong Lokpal Bill is not passed, I will campaign against the Congress party during 2014 Lok Sabha elections."
