Winter Session: Opposition rakes up price rise issue

Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta criticised the Congress saying ruling party failed to stop inflation in essential Commodities.
Leader of Opposition, Sushma Swaraj slammed UPA government for not taking enough effort in bringing down the prices and government's decision of allowing 51% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail.
Swaraj also attacked the UPA government by terming it the most corrupt government by pointing out six major scams during UPA regime, namely 2G scam, CWG scam, Aadarsh society scam, KG Basin scam, Air India plane purchase scam, and cash-for-vote scam.
Reacting to the Sushma Swaraj's comments, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that India's food inflation has fallen sharply to 6.60 percent for the week ended Nov 26 as compared to eight percent in the previous week as onions, potatoes, vegetables and wheat became cheaper.
Though, Swaraj urged the government to find an immediate solution to the price rice issue. She also asked the Finance Minister to stop making technical statements on the issue.
