Scotland-born Findly was found guilty after a trial in Maryland court for killing her husband Trogdon, who was a former US Air Force lieutenant colonel. Findly has been awarded a maximum of 30 years for attempt to murder and up to 20 years for using a hand-gun to commit the bizarre crime.

Findlay has denied both charges. The court said that she found obscene pictures of children on her husband's computer. On her insistence, he agreed to seek treatment. But they later argued again. Findlay told the court her husband assaulted her and she shot at the floor to scare him before calling police.
