8 killed in California hair salon shooting

California, Oct 13: A gunman opened fire in a busy salon of southern California leaving eight people dead and critically wounding another. Sources said that six of the victims were declared dead at the scene. Three people injured were hospitalised in critical conditions and two of those victims died later.

According to Seal Beach police Sgt. Steve Bowles, authorities responded to the shooting at Salon Meritage in Seal Beach, California, a coastal town about 30 miles south of Los Angeles. The salon is in the 500 block of Pacific Coast Highway.

Meanwhile, police has took the suspect into custody when he was trying to drive away from Salon Meritage in a white truck. The police has not confirmed if the victims were customers or employees.

Police said that there may be something to the motive as to a relationship with somebody in the salon behind the shooting. Police has not yet released the gunman's name but said they found multiple weapons in the shooter's car.
