Shocker from Bhopal; 7-yr-old child with three fathers

Bhopal, Sep 29: In a rare case, a seven-year-old kid in Bhopal was found to have three fathers. This shocking issue was discovered when the names of three men, who had raped his mother when she was a teen, were found in the space meant for 'father"s name" on his birth certificate.

The kid's mother was allegedly raped when she was 15 in Nigwani village, about 15 km from Dindori, in 2003. She kept the fact hidden from her family until she got pregnant. Malle Singh, a contractor, Omprakash and Basant Das were named as accused in an FIR filed by the victim's father with the Dindori police station. The contractor had employed the victim as a labourer.

The panchayat that issued the birth certificate said that they put the names of the three accused on it since the grandfather of the kid had told them one of them was the child"s father.

Sub-divisional Magistrate (Dindori) Kameshwar Choube said that he would personally determine if the certificate was genuine, how it had been issued and take appropriate action. Also, they had the option of DNA tests to determine paternity, but doubted if the family would agree.
