Mumbai police to file rape case against Madhur Bhandarkar

Mumbai, Sept 19: Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar finally got into legal trap when Mumbai court ordered the police to file rape case against him. Bhandarkar has been asked to be present at the court on October 18. Madhur can also apply for anticipatory bail in the Mumbai Sessions Court.

A complaint against Bhandarkar was lodged in 2004 by model Preeti Jain with the Versova police that he raped her 16 times from 1999-2004 on the grounds that he would cast her in his movies. Madhur has also been charged for threatening the aspiring model.

In 2009, Ms Jain moved to Andheri court with her complaint after which the police submitted a report stating that there is no evidence of rape against the director. The trail was stayed, after which Preeti Jain moved to a local court in Mumbai.
