Earthquake: Mamata announces Rs 2 lakh compensation

The Chief Minister also said that North Bengal was the worst hit in Bengal with 6 dead in the region and at least 200 injured.
The powerful earthquake with Sikkim as its epicentre was followed after two aftershocks.
The earthquake measuring 6.8 in Richter hit Sikkim-Nepal border on Sunday evening, Sept 18.
Quake also hit most of the northern and eastern India. Tremors were felt in New Delhi, Kolkata, Patna, NCR, Guwahati.
The death toll till now is 18, with 7 people dead in Sikkim, 2 in Bihar, 4 in West Bengal and 5 in Nepal. [Read more: Casualties mounting in N India earthquake; 18 dead till now]
According to authorities, the death toll could rise. Emergency teams have been dispatched and rescue operations are on.
Meanwhile, many areas in Sikkim witnessed black out and mobile connectivity was lost. However, power and mobile connectivity has been restored now.
