Defamatory letter on Anna posted on orders of Pranab's aide?

New Delhi, Sept 12: A defamatory letter allegedly calling Anna Hazare "mad" and "communal" was posted on the website of department of personnel and training (DoPT) after an order was passed by an officer on special duty to Pranab Mukherjee, finance minister.

It is also revealed that out of 15,000 suggestions from people across the nation, only 22 selected letters were posted on the DoPT website under "instructions from the higher authorities".

Among the letters, there was a letter written by Mohammed Asim which called Anna communal and was selected by Pradeep Gupta On Special Duty (OSD) to Pranab Mukherjee, said an article in India Today.

"In all, 706 suggestions in the form of hard copies and 14,875 suggestions through email were received. Twenty-two suggestions were uploaded on the website following orders from higher-ups," said the department in its reply.

Khan in his letter said that Anna remembered the names of three freedom fighters - Rajguru, Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev, while forgot the names of Bahadur Shah Zafar, Ashfaqullah Khan and Tipu Sultan. This shows that Anna is communal, stated the letter.
