'Lame' PM MMS makes history at Red Fort on Independence Day

Following Jawharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, who had ruled the nation for 17 and 16 years respectively, Singh received the chance to make such history.
Extending UPA and Congress' pride, on May 22, 2010, Singh assumed the PM's seat for the second consecutive time.
However, NDA's Atal Bihari Vajpayee also had hoisted the national flag for six times at the Red fort during his reign from 1998 to 2003.
The 14th Prime Minister of the country, Singh first hoisted the tricolour on Aug 15, 2004 just after three months of becoming the PM.
