Foreign Min, SM Krishna gives confused reply in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Aug 11: In a gaffe SM Krishna, External Affairs Minister gave a confused reply in the Rajya Sabha when he was questioned by a MP on the release of Pakistani prisoner Dr Mohammed Khaleel Chisti who is lodged in Ajmer jail.

Krishna referred to Chisty as being held in Pakistan jail and further went on to add that Pakistan has been asked to show some leniency in the case.

Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh stepped in to save embarrassment and said that P Chidambaram, Home Minister was asked to look into the matter and contact the Rajashthan government over the issue.

This is not the first time that the issue have been mucked up by SM Krishna. In Feb 20011 at United Nations (UN), the minister read out the speech of Portugal representative. He was then corrected by Hardeep Puri, India's envoy to UN.
