PM under Lokpal: Hazare powered by Aamir Khan, govt shocked?
Aamir sounded the same as Hazare when the actor claimed that the ombudsman (Lokpal) should not be under government's control but accountable to the people of the country and also urged that public grievances should be made part of the bill.
However, Aamir brought a different demand over the Lokpal panel. The superstar suggested that the panel should have four judges and four independent constitutional authorities which differs from the proposals presented by team Anna and the government.
While team Anna suggested a selection committee of two politicians, four judges and two independent constitutional authorities, the government demanded a selection team that comprises six out of 10 members directly from the ruling establishment.
Aamir also suggested to merge the anti-corruption branch of CBI with the Lokpal and setting up a Lokyukta in states. Khan also hoped that the anti-corruption bill should be empowered to remove all corrupt politicians and bureaucrats from the system.
