Man jailed for raping 85-year-old woman

California, Jul 15: A man has been sentenced for sexually abusing and murdering a 85-year-old woman after he broke into her apartment at Moreno Valley, California.

26-year-old Frank Gabriel Galvan, a drug addict has been awarded 30 years in jail after he was accused of beating and raping the old woman.

The accused broke into Evelyn Ruth Ryan's (victim) apartment in Jan 2006 seeking drug money, said prosecutor, Ambrosio E Rodriguez. After he entered her apartment he increased the volume of the television set and continuously raped the women and then beat her on head resulting in her death, said Rodriguez.

“She died during the course of it," said the prosecutor.

The accused was arrested after two years after authorities found that his fingerprints and DNA matched the murder case of Rayan.

The accused claimed that he killed Ryan because he did not want any witnesses for his crime.
