Afghan Prez's brother shot dead in Kandahar

Kandahar, Jul 12: Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai's brother Ahmad Wali Karzai has been shot dead in Kandahar. The slain half-brother, Ahmad Karzai was Kandahar's Provincial Chief.

Initial reports suggest that he was shot by his bodyguard. He was subject to attempts on his life earlier as well.

The Kandahar provincial government spokesman Zalmay Ayubi has been quoted as saying to agencies, "We can confirm he has been martyred." Sources have revealed that he was entertaining guests at his home when the bodyguard opened fire on him.
