Victim becomes victimised in IMF Chief's sexual assault case

New York, Jul 1: In yet another instance of the high and mighty getting off the hook, it looks like former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is treading the same path. With the sexual assault case against him going weak by the day, his multi-million firefighters (read lawyers) are

to find loopholes in the case.

The law enforcement officials are also placing their cards favouring Kahn and has revealed glaring discrepancies in her statements. With the forensic experts also not able to establish any sexual encounter evidence against Kahn, the prosecutors have highlighted that the hotel maid have been making contrasting claims. A law enforcement official had gone to the extent of saying that the accuser had repeatedly lied.

Senior prosecutors after handing over their findings to Kahn's lawyers are seriously contemplating dropping the charges levelled against him. With focus on the house maid who made the damning accusations against Kahn, the officials have claimed about her possible involvement in illegal activities such as drug dealing and money laundering.

The past seem to be haunting the Manhattan hotel maid and the accuser in the case after officials revealed the details of a phone call made by her to a man in which they discussed the benefits of pursuing the case. This man was earlier arrested for possessing 400 pounds of marijuana. Also in the spotlight are the multiple cash deposits, totaling around $100,000 to the woman's bank account over the last two years.

With Kahn's lawyers claiming to have unearthed evidence that will undermine the credibility of the maid, the case is seeing a fresh twist. With the housekeeper's background being used as a cover for Kahn's smooth exit from the crime, will the high profile lawyers make an accused out of a victim remains to be seen.
