2G: Will Kanimozhi turn approver for the sake of freedom?
After the defeat of the DMK in the elections, the shift in coalition politics was clearly visible with the safe stand the UPA took regarding Kanimozhi and A Raja's arrest. The DMK seem to have foregone their bargaining power at the Centre.
Besides this, the emotional trauma of the jail term for the daughter-father duo of Karunanidhi and Kanimozhi was too much for them to handle. With every visit of the former Tamil Nadu CM to Tihar making national headlines, the emotions were displayed in the public space with the DMK MP Kanimozhi breaking down on seeing her father. Her step brother MK Stalin had also visited her.
With chances of Kanimozhi turning approver strongly emerging, she could blow the lid off the corporate-political nexus and expose how money-power influences government's policy making. The court had rejected her bail plea on the grounds that she could influence witnesses if she was released.
