18-year-old college girl gangraped near Kalyan Rly Station

Mumbai, Jun 22: With the series of rape cases emerging from Uttar Pradesh shocking the nation, yet another instance of brutality and force has emerged from Mumbai.

An 18-year-old college girl from Dombivili was gang raped by two unidentified men for three hours near Kalyan Railway Station. The GRP, Kalyan, have registered a gang rape case against three unknown persons.

Senior police inspector AR Jagtap said on the case, "We have registered a case of gang rape and threatening to kill, against the rapist." The case has been forwarded to the Mahatma Phule Chowk police station, Kalyan for further probe.

A medical check up on the girl confirmed rape. The police officials are looking into the CCTV footage provided by the railway police to identify the rapists.

The girl was traveling to Pune to meet her boyfriend and on her way back on the Chennai Express was encountered by the two strangers who manhandled and raped her. She was accompanied by her friend. The rapists apparently held her friend at knife-point and gagged her and later raped her near the railway station premises.
