Niira Radia being blackmailed with fake CBI letter?

New Delhi, Jun 15: Corporate lobbyist, Niira Radia is back in the news after she met the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director AP Singh on Wednesday.

Reports have emerged that Radia chose to meet the CBI Director to complain on a blackmail letter by a lawyer. She was apparently being blackmailed with a letter by the CBI.

The CBI has asked Radia to submit documents in this regard which she is believed to have done already to probe the matter further. The CBI is currently investigating the 2G spectrum scam under the instructions of the Supreme Court.

A source within the CBI revealed, "She is a witness in the case and can meet any official of the agency." Radia features in the list of many high profile witnesses involved in the biggest telecom scam India has seen in recent times. She is witness number 44 among 125 witnesses.

Radia got into media spotlight after her tapped conversations revealed the fact that she lobbied with bureaucrats, journalists and industrialists in the behest of Raja, former telecom minister. She was also a key lobbyist for Tata Teleservices Ltd.

Radia is also facing the scanner for a possible tax evasion. The tax evasion charges were levelled against her after the income tax department unearthed evidence regarding the same following raids on alleged hawala operators, Anil Bansal and Radhey Shyam Bansal.

Sources also said that the CBI is likely to file a second supplementary charge sheet by June end or in the first week of July on the 2G scam.
