PM in Lokpal ambit: Digvijay Singh's U-turn

Digvijay Singh
New Delhi, Jun 13: The Congress general secretary has taken a complete U-turn from his comment on the Prime Minister's inclusion in the Lokpal's ambit. After taking an anti-Congress stunt, Digvijay Singh now left the decision to be taken by the Lokpal panel and barred himself from intruding in their (Lokpal panel members) works.

On Monday, Jun 13 Digvijay said that both civil society and government representatives in the Lokpal panel should decide on all crucial issues and no outsiders should keep themselves away.

Earlier on Sunday, the Congress general secretary said, "I, as a Chief Minister, was under the ambit of Lokayukta and had no problem in functioning. We can have the Prime Minister, judiciary, corporate and NGOs under the Lokpal with adequate provisions so that the Lokpal can't misuse his powers."

The former Madhya Pradesh CM might have enraged his party workers and supporters with his multiple deeds which have harrassed the party. From Maoists insurgency issues to Baba Ramdev, Digvijay showed an anti-Congress movement. Digvijay had criticised UPA government's decision to provide red-carpet welcome to Baba Ramdev in New Delhi.

The latest U-turn by the former MP CM seems that he (Digvijay) might have received a call from the party high command. The UPA government and Congress have so far demanded that the PM and chief justices should not be included in Lokpal's ambit.
