Bihar Doctor killing: Nitish Kumar orders CBI probe
After meeting the victim's family, Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar asked the CBI to investigate into the matter.
Nitish Kumar agreed that the inattention from the administration led to the brutal murder of the doctor in the jail. A compensation of Rs 10 lakh was also announced for the victim's family.
A notice was also issued to submit a report within two weeks by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to the state chief secretary.
On May 29, the doctor was beaten to death by inmates of a jail after he refused to issue them a fake certificate.
The incident took place when Dr B D Singh went to treat a patient in Gopalganj jail who complained of illness. He was pushed down a stairway after he entered the jail and then beaten up by the prisoners. He lost his life on the way to hospital.
Rajan Yadav is the main accused in the murder. Yadav was given a life time imprisonment in kidnapping case. He along with other inmates of the jail wanted the doctor to issue them a fake certificate, so that they would not be shifted to other jail.
