Japan overlooked tsunami hazard to nuke plants

Tokya, June 1: Japan underestimated the tsunami hazard to encourage nuclear power plants as told by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Wednesday, June 1.

The IAEA also suggests that the plant designers should evaluate and protect against the risks of all natural hazards.

"The tsunami hazard for several sites was underestimated," the U.N. nuclear safety team said.

The team would plan for an international meeting in Vienna from June 20-24, to present a week-long investigation report. The group would consist of experts from 12 nations.
