K'taka politics worsens; B'lore roads blocked; leaders held

Bangalore, May 17: Politics in Karnataka is worsening day by day as both BJP and Congress leaders and workers appeared on roads on Tuesday, May 17 blocking roads at different places showing protest.

Police arrested leader Siddaramaiah and congress workers blocking Devanahalli-BIAL roads. Meanwhile, media reports confirmed that Karnataka BJP MLA Prabhu Chavan, who was on his way to attend BJP's Delhi meeting, have been detained on Tuesday.

Chavan was arrested in Hyderabad with a french-made pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition. He also carried the gun license with him but the license stated that the gun could be used in karnataka alone.

All major roads in the city and prominent places like - Madiwala, Hosur road, Electronic City, Silk Board junction, Kogilu cross on Airport road, Guraguntepalya on Tumkur road, Rajarajeshwarinagar gate on Mysore road have been blocked. Common people have become the scapegoat over the politics game in the state.

While BJP started demanding the recall of the governor HR Bharadwaj, Congress has voiced for the resignation of Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa. Congress echoed the demand of the governor HR Bharadwaj to impose president rule in the state.

Yeddyurappa, with his 122 MLAs, reached the national capital at the late evening of Monday, May 16. The Karnataka CM, accompanied by the 122 MLAs, has vowed to hold a parade to President Pratibha Patil over the governor's "unconstitutional demand."

Bharadwaj had sent a report to the central government calling for presidental rule in Karnataka. Demonstrating tremendous protest over the governor's report, Yeddyurappa, along with his ardent followers, held a dharna outside the Raj Bhawan in Bangalore on Monday. The CM also claimed, "The Governor should explain, because we have absolute majority."
