Mass Rally: Gaddafi's army gangrapes; Libyans support victim
Iman Al Abidi was allegedly gang-raped for two days by Gaddafi's army men. She, somehow, managed to escape the place and tried to raise her voice infront of the international journalists in a hotel, and the world witnessed the rest which has been aired on international TV channels.
Iman al-Obeidi rushed in to the Rixos hotel on Saturday, Mar 26, morning and cried out saying that about 15 members of a paramilitary force loyal to Moammar Gaddafi detained her at a checkpoint, tied her up and gang-raped for two days.
"They tied me up ... they even defecated and urinated on me. The Gaddafi militiamen violated my honor," Los Angels Times quoted her as saying.
She alleged that Libyan forces raped her because she was from the rebel-controlled city of Benghazi. She claimed that she was detained near a military base on Salahadin Road outside Tripoli several days ago and jailed with a dozen other people.
She added that after two days of humiliation and rapes, she managed to escape from there and finally reached in front of the foreign journalists.
While she was narrating her experience to the journalists, government security officials rushed into the hotel and tried to nab her. Officials also tried to stop journalists from filming the chaos. Later Iman al-Obeidi was dragged away by the officials.
