Rs 113 cr recovered from power defaulters

"Under this campaign, the power supply of over 2.65 lakh defaulters was disconnected temporarily or permanently and Rs 113.39 crore was recovered upto March 15 ," Spokesman of UHBVN said.
The Nigam snapped electricity supply of 69,997 non-payers in operation circle Ambala comprising district Ambala and Panchkula, 49,376 in operation circle Kurukshetra, 47,578 in Yamuna Nagar, 25,962 in Panipat, 20,406 in Jind, 18,231 in Kaithal, 15,046 in Karnal, 9,967 in Jhajjar, 8,050 in Sonepat and 1,249 in Rohtak, he said.
These non-payers had to pay Rs.178.53 crore to the Nigam. By recovering Rs. 113.39 crore from the non-payers more than 63 per cent of the defaulting amount had been recovered, he said.
He added that the Nigam had constituted special checking teams to conduct cross checking of premises of permanently disconnected consumers.
