Policemen suspended for providing facilities to prisoner
Etawah, Mar 16: Four policemen, including a Sub-inspector, have been suspended for allegedly providing facilities to a prisoner while he was being taken to a court, police said here today.
"Sub inspector Ummed Ali and three constables were suspended yesterday for providing facilities to undertrial Vinod Gujjar while he was being taken to Meerut for a hearing," Superintendent of Police A K Raghaw said.
The policemen allowed the prisoner to meet his family members without permission, police said. Vinod, who is accused of murdering Meerut jailor Narendra Kumar in 2007, was shifted to Etawah after he tried to flee from Meerut jail by making a tunnel, they said.
