BJP legislators to choose Leader of Opposition tomorrow

Jaipur, Feb 25 (PTI) BJP legislators will choose theirLeader of opposition for Vidhan Sabha in the presence ofcentral observers tomorrow.

"A meeting has been convened here tomorrow in whichthe BJP MLAs will elect their leader. The party will forwardthe name of the elected leader to the Assembly Speaker whowill formally announce the name of the Leader of Opposition inthe Vidhan Sabha," party state president Arun Chaturvedi saidtoday.

Senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu and party generalsecretary Thavarchand Gehlot will also be present as observersfor the election, he said.

According to the party sources, former Chief MinisterVasundhara Raje is the main contender for the post. Formerhome minister Gulab Chand Kataria and deputy leader ofopposition Ghanshyam Tiwari are also in the fray.

Raje had quit as the Leader of Opposition last year.

She was asked to step down by the party high commandin the wake of party''s poor performance in the state Assemblyand parliamentary elections.
