Man sentenced to 10 year imprisonment for raping minor

Banaskantha, Feb 21 (PTI) A 20-year old man was todaysentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minorin Palanpur, in December last year.

Additional district judge F Y Ganchi finding Kanu GhemarSaini (20) guilty of raping a 10-year-old girl sentenced himto 10 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs10,000. It further said that in case the Saini was not able topay the fine his sentence would be increased by six months.

The incident had taken place on December 19 last yearwhen the girl studying in class four was alone in her house.

The accused taking advantage of the girl being alone lured herto the basement of her house and raped her.

When the girl�s mother returned, she told her about whatKanu did to her. Later the victim�s mother filed a policecomplaint following which Kanu was arrested and prosecuted.

Kanu was known to the girl as he used to work with thegirl�s father who owned a mineral water agency.
