UP Speaker to convene all-party meet to check river pollution

Lucknow, Feb 17 (PTI) Amidst concerns over the risingpollution in Ganges and other rivers in Uttar Pradesh, thestate Assembly Speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar today said he will soonconvene an all-party meet to discuss measures to check theproblem.

Giving the ruling on adjournment notice of Congressmember Pramod Tiwari, the Speaker said he will convene an all-party meeting to chalk out strategies to check river pollutionin the state.

Tiwari had earlier expressed concern over the risingpollution in Ganges, saying it is not even clean enough forbathing.

State Environment Minister Nakul Dubey said there is aneed to create awareness among the people to check pollution.
