Woman drowns, husband washed away as cart falls into canal

Hingoli, Feb 15 (PTI) A woman drowned while her husbandwas washed away when the bullock cart in which they weretravelling fell into an overflowing canal near Donarkhadavillage in Kalamnuri tehsil here today, police said.

According to police, one Baliram Rathod (35), a native ofSayalwadi village in Nanded district, was on his way to theDongarkhada market here, along with his wife Nirmalabai (34),daughter Manisha (5) and son Guru (8) when the incidentoccurred.

As the canal was overflowing, the bullocks could notjudge the road and the cart fell into the canal, they saidadding that the woman drowned instantly while her husband waswashed away.

However, the two children and the two bullocks wererescued by the on lookers, police said.
