British couple''s silver jubilee wedding in Hindu style

Coimbatore, Feb 15 (PTI): Married 25 years ago on thisValentine''s day, a British couple today renewed their weddingvows by solemnising their marriage in traditional Hindu styleat a temple in Kanthal at the famous hill station ofUdhagamandalam (Ooty).

Neal and Jackie Oya had entered into wedlock on Valentine''sDay 25 years ago near London. To celebrate the occcasion, theyundertook a holiday trip and arrived in Ooty yesterday, policesaid.

As both Valentines Day and their wedding day fell on thesame day, the couple decided to visit a local temple -- theMariamman Temple in Kanthal-- and exchanged garlands, while apriest chanted hymns, as part of traditional marriage customs

Special pujas and homams were performed to mark thecelebrations.
