'PML-Q, MQM agree to join hands in Pakistan's national interest'

Lahore, Feb 14(ANI): Pakistan's leading opposition parties the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have agreed on a new working relationship for national unity.

According to the Daily Times, the consensus to this effect was reached at a meeting between PML-Q and MQM Co-ordination Committee comprising Babar Ghauri, Raza Haroon, Wasim Aftab and Iftikhar Akbar Randhawa held at PML-Q House in Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, MQM Deputy Convenor Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the MQM and PML-Q were kingmaker parties since 1988, but now both the parties have to play a role of king producers.

He further said that a getting-together of the two parties was itself a charter of democracy, and both the parties would take practical measures in the future in this regard.

He also said that MQM would continue its struggle for the welfare and prosperity of the country.

Meanwhile, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that his party would work with MQM only on a one-point agenda of people's welfare. (ANI)
