Farmers pour 200 litres of milk on roads

Erode, Feb 12 (PTI): Dairy Farmers of Vellore poured 200litres of milk on the roadside on the sixth day of the strikecalled by Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Welfare Association heredemanding increased procurement price.

Farmers in Vellore, Vavikadai and other areas in thedistrict staged demonstrations to press for their demand.

Some Milk producers brought milk to the Uzhavar Shandiesand sold it at Rs 24 per litre to consumers, while othersconvereted milk to curd and sold them in packets.

Officials said AAVIN had received only 20 per cent of itsregular milk supply.

Every day more than 50,000 litres of milk are sold byAAVIN in the district.
