Pakistan to arrest Musharraf; warrant issued

Pervez Musharraf
Islamabad, Feb 12: After accusing him as one of the main accused of Benazir Bhutto's murder case, Pakistan's court issued warrant against the former President Pervez Musharraf.

Media reports stated that the warrant has been issued by the anti-terrorism court in the garrison town of Rawalpindi.

The allegation against Musharraf is - the former military dictator was aware that the Taliban was plotting to kill Bhutto, but he did not pass on the information to the authorities concerned.

Musharraf, allegedly knew that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud was plotting the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, but withheld that information from agencies concerned, another media report claimed.

Bhutto was killed by a suicide attacker in Rawalpindi in Dec 2007 during an election rally in Rawalpindi. Musharraf was the then President of Pakistan. He stepped down from his position in 2008 and left Pakistan. He now lives in London.
