LHC calls for Pak Govt's report on plea seeking Musharraf's high treason charges trial
Lahore, Feb 12(ANI): The Lahore High Court has called for a report from the Pakistan Government on a petition seeking the trial of former President Pervez Musharraf on high treason charges.
After a preliminary hearing, Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain directed the Deputy Attorney General to file comments on behalf of the federal government until February 15, the Daily Times reports.
Advocate Muhammad Jamil Rana had moved the petition, submitting that Musharraf was guilty of removing an elected government and subverting the Constitution.
He said the government was not taking any steps to get the former military ruler tried for committing high treason by abrogating the Constitution and ruling the country illegally.
Rana also alleged that the federal government was using tactics to delay the holding of Musharraf's trial. (ANI)
