BHU and KAL ink MoU to preserve medicinal herbs
Varanasi, Feb 10, (PTI) Banaras Hindu University (BHU)and Kerala Ayurveda Limited (KAL) have signed an MoU to carryout joint research into "conservation" and "effectiveutilisation" of medicinal herbs found in southern and northernparts of the country.
"This is a unique experiment of putting thePublic-Private Partnership model into practice," said D PSingh, Vice Chancellor of BHU.
A joint research in the field of ''geriatric care'' andon diseases like cancer, diabetes, cholera to name a few, willbe carried out jointly under the PPP model. The joint exercisealso mulls about documenting Ayurvedic medicines based ontheir potency, efficacy and safety, he said.
KAL, founded in 1945 by Late K G K Panicker, is aleading Ayurvedic company. It manages three Ayurvedichospitals, thirty clinics and a resort in Bangaluru.
Dr K P Upadhyaya and Ramesh Wangal signed the MoU onbehalf of BHU and KAL respectively.
