Pak minister confesses to 'extorting money' from fellow MPAs for building seminary

Quetta, Feb 5(ANI): In a shocking revelation, Balochistan's Senior Minister for Planning and Development Maulana Abdul Wasey has confessed to extorting money from MPAs, and confirmed that he had collected a total of 90 million rupees from them.

Speaking at a meeting of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Wasey criticised the elements that had opposed his fund-collection from his fellow MPAs for building a seminary in his constituency in Qila Saifullah, the Daily Times reports.

Providing details of the funds, the minister confirmed that he had used his influence in collecting around 3 to 4 million rupees from every MPA.

Giving past examples, Wasey said no one had given a donation of 50,000 rupees to JUI leaders and activists, but he had collected 90 million rupees from the MPAs, who were interested in seeking a release of their development funds specified in the provincial budget and official documents.

Independent observers, journalists and the public were taken aback by the candid confession of the minister, and particularly by the fact that those funds were used for building a seminary in Muslim Bagh.

One of the journalists also claimed that Wasey had misused his official position in extorting money from his fellow MPAs, all of who belonged to the treasury benches. (ANI)
