North Korea says only dialogue with South can resolve crisis on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, Feb 5(ANI): Dialogue between North and South Korea is a priority for improving relations and resolving the crisis on the Korean Peninsula, an editorial in a North Korean newspaper has said.
"To eliminate the political and military confrontation, it is urgent to improve the north-south relations. Both sides should respect and trust each other, eliminate the gulf, misunderstanding and mistrust to realize the reconciliation and cooperation," an editorial in Rodong Sinmun has said.
"Talks between the authorities with power and duty are the most important in the north-south dialogue," it added.
North and South Korea have reportedly agreed to hold working-level military talks on February 8.
It comes after North Korea sent a message to the South's Defence Ministry proposing to hold the talks.
The editorial further said that North Korea would discuss all significant national issues, and believes that it will have a good result.
"Most of the issues in the north-south relations have to be settled through talks between the authorities," Xinhua news agency quoted the editorial, as saying.
The meeting will take place in Panmunjom, a village on the de facto border between North and South Korea.
It is aimed at setting the date, place and agenda for high-level military dialogue. (ANI)
