Gujarat Govt. plans to impart training skills to unemployed, semi-skilled youth
New Delhi, Feb 4 (ANI): The Gujarat Government has taken an initiative to set up skill development centres and impart training skills to unemployed and semi-skilled youth.
New Horizons India Limited, which is joint venture of New Horizons Worldwide, Inc. and Shriram group, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) in this regard.
The programme will initially be rolled out in Gujarat's Bhuj, Mithirohar and Mandavi regions.
To be fully operational at an investment of Rs three crores, these centres will be equipped to train 10,000 youth in the first phase. nder this Agreement, New Horizons will also be responsible for running and complete management of the Training Centres.
Even as moves are afoot to operationalize these Centres, New Horizons is simultaneously planning to scale up the number of Industrial Training Institutes under the company to 20 in the next one-year.
Commenting on the latest development, I.C Sharma, Executive Director said, "New Horizons as a significant leader in the informal education space recognizes the imperative today for large scale private participation in 'training as a tool to build India'. The vocational training movement in India places much hope on the impact that cooperation between the private sector and public sector can have on skill development."
"I am extremely pleased that New Horizons has responded to this challenge and is making a start with the Training Centres in Gujarat. I am fully confident that we will be able to equip the youth of today with the necessary skills to enable them fulfill their aspirations," he added.
Given the magnitude and pace of what needs to be achieved, the Gujarat Government has chosen to partner itself with private sector organizations like New Horizons, which has a credible track record in education and training.
New Horizons has a close working relationship with some of the world's leading technology companies like Oracle, Red Hat, Accenture and Microsoft who have certified New Horizons as their preferred training partner. (ANI)
