BJP sticks to demand for JPC probe in 2G spectrum scam
Chennai, Feb 4 (PTI) Not willing to budge, BJP todayinsisted on a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2Gspectrum allocation scam, saying larger governance issueswere involved and government never said why it was against it.
"Our demand for JPC probe is not just regarding Raja(former Telecom Minister), but there are larger issues ofgovernance involved in this, such as role of corporates. Soour demand for a JPC stands," senior BJP leader Sushma Swarajtold reporters here.
Responding to Congress'' offer that it was amenable toa discussion in Parliament on JPC, Swaraj, who is Leader ofthe Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said while the Opposition hadclearly stated why they were demanding JPC probe, thegovernment never said why it was against it.
She said this had been made clear in the all-partymeetings convened by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjeeand Speaker Meira Kumar (on different occasions).
"We will formulate our strategy in consultation withour NDA partners on the eve of the budget session," she saidwhen asked if the Opposition would stall proceedings inParliament during the budget session on JPC issue,as they didin the last session.
The NDA strategy would also factor in the February 8all-party meeting convened by Mukherjee to find a way to endthe Parliament logjam on the demand for JPC. .
