Yemeni president says he won''t seek another term
Sanaa, Feb 2 (AP) Yemen''s president has told parliamenthe will not seek another term in office or hand power to hisson _ an apparent reaction to protests in his own country thathave been inspired by Tunisia''s revolt and the turmoil inEgypt.
The US-allied Ali Abdullah Saleh, who has been in powerfor nearly 32 years, spoke today to lawmakers in both housesof the assembly.
Saleh said, "I won''t seek to extend my presidency foranother term or have my son inherit it."
Activists and opposition supporters have staged severalprotests in Sanaa, boldly asking for Saleh''s removal anddecrying reports he plans to install his son in power. Theopposition has called for mass anti-Saleh rallies tomorrow inall provinces. (AP)
