4 soldiers, 16 militants killed in clash in northwest Pak

Peshawar, Feb 2 (PTI) Four soldiers and 16 Talibanmilitants were killed in a clash that erupted when militantsattacked a security check post in the volatile Mohmand tribalregion of northwest Pakistan today, a security official said.

A group of militants attacked Anargi check post inMohmand Agency.

Four soldiers were killed and as many injured in theinitial assault.

The troops repulsed the attack, killing 16 militantsin retaliatory firing, the security official said.

Taliban fighters have launched several attacks onsecurity forces in Mohmand Agency in the past few weeks.

The rebels have frequently targeted security forcesconvoys and check posts.
