Uddhav asks people to be sensitive towards families of martyrs

Thane, Jan 30 (PTI) Paying tributes to 26/11 martyrs,Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray said peopleremember these bravehearts and their families only on nationalholidays and annual celebrations.

Inaugurating at least half a dozen civic projects hereincluding a martyr memorial, Uddhav yesterday asked citizensto remember heroes and their families for their supremesacrifice and come out with a helping hand to fulfill theirdesires and enquire about their needs time to time instead ofleaving them in lurch.

The Sena leader made this observation when mother of slainofficer Vijay Salaskar while receiving the award on hisbehalf, complained that people soon forget the service done byto the nation.

Thackeray in his speech recounted how Salaskar''s motherafter the Mumbai attacks, had questioned him as why he had notvisited the officer''s home yet. The leader had then visitedthe family immediately after the unfortunate incident.

He also gave the example of Tukaram Ombale''s family andtheir situation.

"We realise that the sacrifice of these heroes areunparallelled and the Sena would also play its role in takingproper care of such families," he said.
